Both begin as the same liquid sap, but the manufacturing process changes everything downstream. Dunlop, the original method dating to 1929, whips the latex into a froth and bakes it in one stage; natural sediment settles toward the bottom as it sets, producing a denser, firmer, more durable material best suited to a mattress's support core.
Talalay adds a vacuum-seal and flash-freeze step that distributes the latex and air bubbles evenly before baking, preventing that settling. The result is a lighter, more consistent, more "bouncy" cell structure — often compared to a marshmallow or a cloud — that excels as a top comfort layer.
Most mattresses sold today contain zero percent natural ingredients. We build to the opposite standard: cotton, wool and latex, and nothing else. You'll spend more than 120 days a year of your life on this mattress, for the rest of your life — better to sleep on all-natural materials than to find out later what was hidden inside a synthetic core.
Cotton gives the quilting its soft, luxurious hand-feel. Wool is a natural fire barrier that requires no chemical flame retardants. Latex — your choice of Dunlop or Talalay — does the actual work of support.

A Latexpedic mattress will outlast most others by more than a decade, and part of that comes from a detail most brands skip: we quilt both sides with the same cotton and wool, not just the side you're meant to sleep on. That makes the mattress completely reversible, distributing wear evenly across both faces instead of letting one side break down while the other sits unused.
Latex is available Soft, Regular Firm, Extra Firm and Ultra Firm — and because we layer and zipper the mattress rather than pouring it as one solid block, that firmness isn't locked in on delivery day. Queen and king sizes can even be split, giving couples two different firmness levels in one bed.
