In 1964, Henry Kraus, the founder of Electropedic Beds, attended the World's Fair in New York City where he encountered an electric adjustable bed. Recognizing the potential for comfort and therapeutic benefits, Kraus returned to California and established Electropedic Beds in the same year. This marked the beginning of his venture into manufacturing and selling these innovative adjustable beds, a business that remains family-owned and operated today. In 1987, while on a European business trip, Henry Kraus, the founder of Electropedic Beds, stayed at a small boutique hotel in Switzerland. It was there that he experienced a latex mattress for the first time and was struck by its exceptional comfort, especially noting that he woke up without his usual back pain. Impressed by this discovery, Kraus investigated further, learned about the properties of latex, and recognized the potential to enhance the comfort and support offered by his adjustable beds. This pivotal experience led him to introduce latex mattresses to his product line, eventually establishing the Latexpedic brand as a division of Electropedic Beds. |

In the mid-1970s, Philip and Lloyd Kraus, sons of Electropedic Beds founder Henry Kraus, began working full-time for the family business. Over time, they gradually assumed more responsibility for the day-to-day operations, eventually taking over the leadership of Electropedic Beds and continuing the family's involvement in the adjustable bed and mattress industry. In the 2010s, Paul Kraus, son of Philip Kraus, joined Electropedic. Leveraging the company's history of manufacturing unique sleep products |
